What is a daily stand-up?

The daily stand-up is a short meeting, usually fifteen minutes, where a team syncs on progress toward its goal and raises anything that is blocking work.

In Scrum it is called the daily scrum. The classic format asks each person what they did yesterday, what they will do today and what is in their way. Many teams now "walk the board" instead, going through the work in progress from right to left.

Keeping it useful

  • Keep it short and take detailed discussion offline.
  • Focus on the sprint goal, not status reports.
  • Use the board so everyone looks at the same picture.

Stand-ups with Starlex

Because Starlex boards update live, the board on screen during the stand-up is always current. See live boards.
